Face & Neck
Lumecca Peak
Lumecca is an advanced Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) device, designed for skin rejuvenation and targeting pigmented lesions (e.g., sunspots, freckles) and vascular lesions (e.g., telangiectasias, rosacea).
The “PEAK” version signifies a higher-energy, optimized output design: higher peak power, shorter pulse widths, and more efficient energy delivery compared to standard IPL systems.
- Selective Photothermolysis
The device emits pulses of broad-spectrum light (IPL) that include wavelengths absorbed by melanin (pigment) and oxyhemoglobin (blood vessels). The light energy is converted to heat in the target structures, damaging or coagulating them while sparing surrounding tissue. - Thermal Cascade & Collagen Stimulation
Beyond targeting pigment and vessels, the thermal heating triggers a mild injury response in nearby dermal tissues. This stimulates collagen remodeling and can improve overall skin tone, texture, and firmness. - Clearing & Remodeling Over Time
The damaged pigment or vessel debris is gradually cleared by the body’s natural processes. Over days to weeks, pigmented spots darken, flake off, or are resorbed. Vascular lesions may regress as the treated vessels contract or are absorbed.
Sun damage, age spots, freckles, lentigines
Pigmentation irregularities and hyperpigmentation
Superficial vascular lesions: broken capillaries, spider veins, rosacea, telangiectasias
Improvement in overall skin tone, clarity, and complexion
Regions commonly treated: face, neck, chest, hands, arms
Stronger energy (higher peak power) leads to improved efficacy and possibly fewer sessions needed.
More controlled pulses (shorter duration) help reduce unwanted thermal spread.
Cooling (often sapphire tip or other cooling methods) helps protect surface skin and enhance patient comfort.
Minimal downtime or recovery compared to ablative lasers or deeper energy devices.
- A full skin evaluation and history (e.g. prior sun exposure, tanning, photosensitizing meds)
Avoid significant sun exposure or tanning for a few weeks prior
Discontinue certain topical agents (retinoids, strong acids) as advised
Cleanse the skin; protect eyes with goggles
Apply coupling gel if used (to improve light transmission)
- The applicator is placed on the skin, and pulses of light are emitted
Sensation: many patients describe a mild “snap” or “rubber band” feeling at each pulse
Cooling may be active during or between pulses to reduce discomfort
Treatment duration varies depending on area size — often 20 to 45 minutes for facial / moderate zones
Immediately After / Downtime
Mild redness and warmth akin to a mild sunburn is typical
Pigmented spots may temporarily darken (this is often a sign of the treatment working)
In the next few days, pigmented lesions may flake off or fade
Minimal downtime — patients often resume normal activities quickly (though care must be taken with sun exposure)
- Some improvement may be observed within 1–2 weeks
- Continued improvements over several weeks as collagen remodeling occurs
- For pigment or vascular issues, optimal results often require multiple sessions spaced out (e.g. 1–3 or more)
- Deep pigmentation or melasma may be more challenging
Effects are not equivalent to ablative resurfacing — more modest in strength
Skin type (esp. darker skin) must be carefully managed to reduce risk of pigment changes
Success depends on good sunscreen habits and skin care preservation
Transient redness, edema
Temporary darkening of pigment, blistering (rare)
Hyperpigmentation or hypopigmentation (especially in darker skin types)
Possible discomfort, post-inflammatory changes

Complete Your Skin Rejuvenation
Lumecca IPL is often combined with other aesthetic treatments to create a comprehensive facial rejuvenation plan. While Lumecca improves pigmentation, sun damage, and skin tone, treatments such as Morpheus8 RF microneedling, Botox and Dysport, and dermal fillers can further enhance skin texture, reduce wrinkles, and restore youthful facial contours.
During your consultation, our physician-led team will recommend the combination of treatments that best aligns with your goals for healthy, radiant skin.
